Changing Attitude towards Nuclear Power! Before March 1 1, 2011, many people in Japan consid e red nuclear power to be safe, clean, and cheap. Despit e the a ccident in 1986 in Chernobyl, governmen ts around the world continu ed to develop nuclear power generation because they believed that the fault was solely to Soviet technology. Compared to the damage caused in environment by the burning of fog of fuel, nucle ar option was attractive one. In addition, people were told that uranium was cheaper than the coal, gas and oil used in traditional power stations. In Japan, nuclear power plants brought benefits to local communities that hosted them with many of them are becoming rich.
